Sex Trafficking in Atlanta is a huge market. Victims of sex trafficking and people that you have conversations with each day but you would never know it. FBI agents recently worked with law enforcement partners to locate 28 adolescent victims during the operations that ran from August 4-14. Included in the 28 found victims were nine children who were being commercially sexually exploited and 18 missing children. In addition, the Atlanta operations arrested four human trafficking suspects. Local law enforcement agencies which participated in Operation Cross Country XII included Dunwoody Police, Cobb County Police, Atlanta Police, Fulton County Sheriff’s Office, Atlanta Public Schools Police, Dekalb County Schools Department of Public Safety, Gwinnett County Public School Police, Cobb County School District Police, and Carroll County School Police.
Human trafficking is among the most heinous crimes the FBI encounters. Children are being kidnapped and used as sexual objects. Child trafficking is the recruitment, coercion, transportation, transfer, harboring or receipt of children under the age of 18 for the purpose of exploitation. It is a violation of their rights and their well-being and denies them the opportunity to reach their full potential.
