The New Horizons Student Success Center bridges the gap between at-risk/disadvantaged student and a college education. We offer FREE after school programming to assist the at-risk/disadvantaged student to excel in academics, life skills, arts, and sports. The average minority family cannot afford the cost of SAT or ACT Prep workshops. We offer free college prep classes to our participants, along with workshops, and tutoring.
We take our participants to visit college campuses, because high percentages of at-risk youth have not been exposed to university campuses. 95 percent of the youth in this program will be first generation college students. Most of their fathers are in prison or dead. An extremely high number of our participants come from single parent households. Every child wants to succeed, but does every child have the resources to succeed?
FREE SAT/ACT Prep Classes
In Time of Need Incorporated is raising funds to continue giving economically disadvantaged youth, in urban areas, access to FREE testing prep classes. It is no secret that many minorities do have access to SAT/ACT Prep classes because of financial reasons. Why shouldn’t every youth have the opportunity to get a jump start on Standardize testing? Regardless of their race, gender, or lifestyle choice: every child deserves the opportunity to succeed.
Many college admission offices will not grant admissions to students that have not taken the SAT or the ACT. In Time of Need Incorporated is making sure that this does not hold at-risk students back. We are bridging the gap between urban city youth and a college education. Fighting for every child, from every race!
